God, where did you go?
I visit the supermarket, zoo etc. and tell my children "should we become separated, do not wander around trying to find me, go to the lost persons, or security office, and inform them what has happened".
It has occurred often that I rush around in supermarkets etc. and realise I am walking too fast for my children; I turn around and notice they're not there, then I rush up the previous aisle to retrace my steps and find they're standing there looking sad that we had been separated for those few moments.
I go to them and begin to say things like "why did you walk off? what made you leave me? But when peace is restored to my body because of their safety I realise, they didn't walk or wander off, I had been busy bargain hunting and wanting to see the latest gadgets that I had wandered from them.
Psalm 22 has the harrowing image of Christ upon the Cross crying the words "my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
A question we often ask when we have been or feel separated from our heavenly father or have become, or know someone who is seriously ill. "Why God? Where are you? Why did you leave me when I needed you?" The truth is, he has never moved!
The world has become a busy place, Iphones, Ipads, mobile phones, wifi, satnav etc. and people working 9-5 and then some to repay loans and mortgages. In all this rush it is us who wander off from God, but when we regain our peace and retrace our steps (via the bible), we find that God is there, where he has always been, and will always be!
Remember his promise "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you". He is a God of truth and Love, He will not promise us something and do the opposite, that is a human nature, not that of God.
Peace and Love
